Plaisir de Merle Grand Brut sparkles with Gold

Plaisir de Merle celebrates Gold awarded to the 2016 Grand Brut at this year’s World Sparkling Wine Awards. This prestigious global award is presented by TheDrinksReport.com and is paneled by judges from the United Kingdom, Canada, The Netherlands, Germany, United States and Italy.

“While aiming for an MCC that appeals to all occasions with a crisp, festive approach, this award underlines the dedication in the selection of grapes, the 1st and 2nd fermentation and ageing on the lees in our cellar. A beautiful combination of green apple, floral and delicate yeasty notes. The 2016 Plaisir de Merle Grand Brut MCC is indeed a wine for any festive occasion.”, says winemaker Neil Bester.

The Plaisir de Merle Grand Brut is a classic French Méthode Cap Classique made from 44% Pinot Noir to create a distinctive body and flavour in the wine, and 56% Chardonnay to add a clean flintiness and green apple flavours.

The delicate yeasty tones on the bouquet are layered with green apples, citrus and brioche. On the palate, one will enjoy a foamy mouthfeel with toasty notes, citrus, honey and tropical nuances imparted by the Chardonnay while the Pinot Noir provides flavours of fresh red fruit.

This award-winning Méthode Cap Classique is ready to enjoy now but will also develop well in the bottle over the next 5-7 years.
